Protecting the Children in Online World

This coming National Children’s Month on November 2025 carries a very serious message: “End Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM): Fight for the Safety and Rights of Children!” This message is calling everyone to act now. In simple words, we need to stop people who hurting children using the internet. Sadly, Philippines is known as one of the countries where these online crimes is happening often. This month gives a chance for parents, teachers, leaders, and the community to think how we can protect children better, online and offline. Keeping children safe and respected should be our top responsibility.

The government created a strong protection through Republic Act No. 11930. This law can be seen as a powerful shield against online child abuse. In my opinion, this law is a big improvement and a good step forward. It helps the Philippines become a leader in child protection. The law gives heavier punishment to offenders who abuses children online. It also requires internet companies to help prevent these crimes, and banks must monitor unusual money activities connected to abuse. This proves that the government is serious in defending the safety and dignity of every child.

To make sure the law is effective, the government formed a special group called the NCC-OSAEC-CSAEM. This group serves as the center of coordination between different government agencies. This is a positive move because it shows strong commitment. However, protecting children is not only about arresting criminals. The protection must reach even far areas and small communities. Children who experience abuse needs proper support to heal emotionally and mentally. The government should focus not only on law enforcement, but also on providing enough funding and long-term care for child survivors.

In conclusion, National Children’s Month reminds us that child protection is not only the government’s duty but everyone’s responsibility. The tools are already given, but we must use it properly. Parents should teach children about internet safety. Companies must create safer online spaces. Teachers should guide and educate them. When we all say “Ipaglaban!” we are making a promise to protect children and build a digital world where they can grow safe, happy, and free from abuse.
